A rare opportunity has come up to join Galbraith as its Head of Client
Accounting. The role is based in our Stirling office. We offer hybrid working,
following a period of initial training.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing accounting services to c. 200 of Galbraith’s managed estate clients. Managing a team of 10 and reporting directly to the Head of Finance, key responsibilities will include:
• Providing technical expertise and advice in respect of accounting, VAT and
payroll matters arising
• Employee training, development and retention
• Maintaining client and wider rural team relationships; proactively supporting the wider rural surveying team and client base
• Training clients and surveyors
• Client management and year end reporting
• Business development and new job pricing
• Maintenance and development of client accounting systems and best
practice procedures
• Day to day maintenance of client banking platforms
• Ensuring adherence to RICS Client Money Regulations at all times
Although technical expertise is required, this is very much a people orientated
role, mentoring, training, and developing long-term relationships both internally
and externally.
To be successful
To be successful in this role you will have:
• An accountancy qualification: CA, ACCA, CIMA with at least 5 years’
experience
• At least 2 years’ experience of managing a team
• Experience in management accounts, payroll and VAT. Exposure to VAT
partial exemption rules would be beneficial
• Systems experience, preferably Xero and Sage Payroll
• Excellent excel skills
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Confidence, be approachable and calm under pressure
• Superior organisational skills
• A proactive approach, with the ability to take the initiative.
Prior experience of the main tasks set out in the job overview above is desirable, as the successful candidate will need to hit the ground running.
Due to the location of the office, on the outskirts of Stirling, a car is essential.
There is ample, free parking on site.
